Connect a keyboard scanner

Connect a USB or Bluetooth scanner to the device running YiTaiCOS and send each completed scan as keyboard text.

Before you start

Use a scanner that can operate as HID keyboard input or keyboard wedge. The phone, tablet, PC, or handheld must already run the YiTaiCOS scanner workflow.

Steps

  1. Connect the device

Connect or pair the USB or Bluetooth scanner with the PC, tablet, or handheld that runs YiTaiCOS.

  2. Choose keyboard output

Set the scanner to HID keyboard input or keyboard wedge mode. On a Zebra handheld, configure Zebra DataWedge to send barcode input as keyboard output to the foreground YiTaiCOS app. On a Honeywell device, use its keyboard scanner mode.

  3. Add a suffix

Configure an Enter, CR, or LF suffix after each scan. Keep the output as plain text when possible.

  4. Open the scanner

Open the YiTaiCOS Mobile App and enter the required Shipping scan or warehouse workflow. In the scanner workspace, choose Manual input to show the input field and Scanner profile.

  5. Select a profile

Select Keyboard wedge, Zebra DataWedge, or Honeywell keyboard to match the device. Focus the Manual input field before scanning.

  6. Test a known code

Scan a known SKU, product barcode, tracking value, waybill, or label and wait for the result card. Continue only with the action shown for the selected workflow.

Expected result

The scanner sends text into the focused YiTaiCOS input and the same scanner workflow resolves it. No external scanner is needed for the Mobile App camera path.

If something goes wrong

  • Nothing happens: confirm the Manual input field is focused, the scanner is paired, the selected profile matches the device, and Enter/CR/LF is configured as a suffix.
  • Characters are wrong: check the device keyboard layout, hidden prefixes, and profile. Prefer plain text output and retry with the matching Zebra or Honeywell profile.
  • The result is not the intended workflow: return to the Mobile App Home screen and open Shipping scan, Product inbound, Product outbound, or Loss outbound as appropriate.
